I am Mike Harris owner of Dejavu Estate Sales. I spent many years in hospitality management creating exciting and unique environments while providing great customers service. I have always had the passion for antiques and collectibles, even as a teenager I was buying and reselling in local antique venues. For many years I eagerly awaited the weekend so that I could get out to as many estate sales as possible. I soon noticed that some of the estate sale providers were missing out on the true potential of their clients loved one’s estate. Many sales I attended were dirty, dark, unorganized, unfriendly, and just over all unsafe and unprofessional. This is why we do things differently, our signature attention to details, marketing, merchandising and staging, distinguish us from others and maximize your sale potential. We provide a very detailed oriented service by first removing debris and unsellable items.

We then clean all items to be sold and create unique displays highlighting more desirable items and creating an overall feel for the household, which in return brings more value to your estate. We ensure the home is well lit with LED lighting for both safety and marketing purposes, we play appropriate wireless music during our sales to enhance the atmosphere for customers. We wrap and bag all purchases for our customers and assist with moving and loading large items. We always keep safety in mind as we set up ensuring walkways are clear and stairs and thresholds are highlighted with blue tape. While all households are different, we give the same amount of effort in our marketing displays depending on the items we have to work with. It has always been my belief that you should always do the very best at whatever you do or just not do it at all, and it is with that belief and passion that I operate this company. We treat all your belongings with compassion and respect, which are the leading core values of our company.

Along the way we have worked with many great estates including the estate of John McCormick, the voice of KMOX Radio and his wife June McCormick who was the sister of Evelyn Knight a famous singer of the 1940s and 1950s. The Wheeler family who lived in a house in Webster Groves Mo. that has a haunted history and is on the haunted house registry. The estate of Ken Hutchison who is author of the book “Affordable Art Deco”, and life time collector of art deco collectibles. We have also worked with the Eckert’s Orchards family and the Benjamin Air Rifle family. This is just a few examples of the great people, clients and customers we meet along the way.

Our team, which consist of previous estate sale company owners, antique shop owners, personal property appraisers, and other great customer service providers is top notch in providing an experience that is rememberable for our customers and clients. I really don't know where to begin in telling you how totally thrilled we are that we chose Deja Vu to manage our estate sale. Mike and their entire team put weeks into planning and executing a sale, that not only exceeded our expectations in the money generated, but also ended with a house that was bare to the walls and clean as can be...just like they promised. Our search to find the right estate sale experts to handle my mother's estate began with my husband and I going to different estate sales to see how they were set up, how the items were labeled and priced, how many employees were present to help the buyers, and how the sales were advertised. We interviewed several companies and decided that they were the very best! What we found out was that the actual sale is probably the easy part...its the upfront prep work that really makes for a successful sale. Deja Vu had the experience to know when they really had desirable items and spent the time to research these items to make sure they are properly priced. And this research was not just for the big ticket items, but they spent the time to price every single item no matter how small or trivial. They then cleaned the home BEFORE the sale even began. Items were washed, furniture polished, pictures and accessories dusted and lighting adjusted just right to make every item look like a real treasure. The entire home was staged, lit and displayed in a manner that makes sense to the buyer (sort of like they are shopping at their favorite department store), and makes it easy for them to find and examine the merchandise. And then there's the advertising. They knew exactly when to start the advertising, where to advertise, how they needed to describe the overall feel of the sale, what photos to show on-line that would really peak the buyers' interests to make them come to our sale first and not the other one down the street, and lastly, when and where to put up the outdoor signs to pull in the traffic. Mike and Staff were in constant communications with us every step of the way. This included every member of the family that wanted to be "in the know". They cared about us and our "stuff". They trusted us and we trusted them. We were a team together. They were enthusiastic and truly enjoyed what they were doing. This showed from the moment they walked in the door to make their presentation to us, continued for 3 weeks before the sale and during the 3 days of the sale, and ended with a detailed spreadsheet accounting for all the sales and expenses accompanied with a check to joyfully deposit in the bank. “After my mother’s death, my siblings and I were left with what seemed like a mountain of arrangements to deal with. In her old age, my mother became a bit of a hoarder. She collected and saved everything. We wanted to put our childhood home up for sale, but had to clean it out first. We did not know where to start We started calling companies to sell the contents of the home. We were offered $5,000 for all of her belongings, and we were still going to be responsible for the removal of what was left and the trash hauling. I cannot recommend Dejavu Estate Sales enough. My sister and I were saddled with a childhood home filled to the brim with stuff and were overwhelmed trying to manage it from out of state. Mike and staff arranged a sale, sold what was sell-able, cleaned out the house. We would have been thrilled if we had broken even but we actually made money to put towards our step-fathers care.
